Sini Majuri is a glass artist from Helsinki. She approaches glass material from the viewpoint of Scandinavian design tradition, combining it to modern 3D-design. The emphasis in her design philosophy is the desire to create objects, which get their value from timeless design, high quality materials and unique ideas. The objects are more than mere interior objects. The trick in Majuri’s VUORI glass works is the cold mark of glass. It gives the objects their inimitable surface structure – like the finger print of an object. Thus, each object has a unique character, a soul. By connecting mountains, it is possible to build mountain ranges, mental landscapes made of glass.
Sini Majuri, Master of Arts, lives and works in Helsinki. Her sculptures made of mouth-blown glass have appeared in exhibitions in New York, Tokyo, New Mexico, Toronto, Venice and Hong Kong. Majuri often combines glass with storytelling and comic strip influenced expression. Majuri has also designed a 500-piece studio glass collection, Jungle, for Netherlandic DutZ Collection. Her art has been featured in various international publications, for example in magazines such as Designboom, Elle and Urban Glass.
